Holy Rosary Academy’s Mission Statement:
The mission of the Holy Rosary Academy community is to support and encourage the development of each child's unique set of God-given talents by providing a Catholic education grounded in Gospel values and committed to excellence.
Mission/Vision
“...providing a Catholic education grounded in Gospel values and committed to excellence.” We began the semester talking about the virtue of docilitas, which means “...to be open to learning something new…” In providing a Catholic education, teachers are not following a formula but exercising the virtue of docilitas. This virtue gives teachers a vision of what God is calling them to in the now. We have to walk and bring students to Christ through the subjects we teach. With each class and each student, the paths vary; they widen and narrow at times, but it is through docilitas that we become open to the best path to proceed.
In the Classroom
The best teachers at differentiated learning are those who live docilitas. I sometimes refer to Spider-Man. Teachers must listen to their “spidey sense” to discern what connects and moves students toward a love of learning and an understanding of the subject.
Beyond the Classroom
Over this weekend and the Christmas holidays, reflect on how you have practiced docilitas this semester. Whether in your spiritual life, plan of life, daily prayers, visiting the Blessed Sacrament when you enter HRA each morning, or when making a short visit during the day, spend those moments asking for docilitas.
