Spring Break Ends to HRA Faculty and Staff
In the middle of Lent, PI Day and the Ides of March
I hope your Spring Break included adventures, and maybe a little time for rest. As we are in the middle of Lent and this weekend also has annual mathematical and historical significance, I thought I would share a few things with you. Here is an article from Mission Driven Catholic’s last week’s Lenten reflection:
Also, yesterday was PI day. Pope Leo XIV issued a letter on the study of mathematics; here is an article about it.
Today is the Ides of March, the day on which Julius Caesar was assassinated. Here is an article by the late Fr. James Schall, originally published in 2016, that remains relevant for our reflection. I look forward to a friend’s, Bradley J. Birzer, speech this week at the National Catholic Prayer Breakfast in Washington, D.C. The theme of his speech is Catholicism and the Gift of Liberty. There are many overlays with religious liberty and the vibrancy of Catholicism in the United States. As we celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Fr. Schall’s reflection and even retired Archbishop Chaput’s speeches and writings are worth watching and reading.
